Some words on ... The association E.D.I.C.A.A - The Mesnie 1415

Composed of a handful of medieval enthusiasts and their families, "La Mesnie 1415" aims to recreate the living history of the Middle Ages with its crafts (embroidery, tapestry ...), its costumes, its food (beverages, dishes and spices ...), its childhood games (blackberries, stilts, horseshoe, soule, seat of the castle ...), its tales and stories ... and especially its archery (longbow, arrows, crossbows, tactics ...).

We initiate shooting to amateurs of all ages.

In partnership with our archers friends from all over the world, we regularly organize jousts and tournaments: reconstitution of a camp with its artisan stalls, its musicians and jugglers, shooting competition and banquet on the menu of the time.

Based on research, readings, iconography, we seek to share our passion for fun and interactivity with the public: it is living history, it is History in motion. And while the women explain the art of the table, the spices, the tastes, the smells, the scents and the colors of the food (and the Ypocras!), Or even that others present the attires, the clothing fashions, costumes and the art of embroidery, men shoot with a bow, unhook crossbow bolts, this devil's weapon.

Because indeed, if the longbow has seen the superiority of English archers over French chivalry as well in Poitiers as in Crécy and Azincourt, throughout the so-called 100 years war, (but which lasted 113 years), the mastery of the firearm in Castillon – la – Bataille, in Guyenne, marked the end of this supremacy… Thus the archers of the Mesnie 1415 dress a captain from head to toe to make him experience what the man in arms experienced on the battlefields named above ...

Where to find them? At Forges les Eaux, Condé sur l'Escaut, Tournai, Bellaing, the Soup and Bread Festival, within the Citadel of Montreuil sur Mer ... ... where pleasure is to be experienced, and as its motto says: "to shared peace, to newfound friendship" or "to shared friendship and newfound peace" ...

The passion start with The Mesnie 1415
